November 28 2015 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards

In recognition of businesses carrying out their duty of social responsibility properly to drive businesses to step into sustainable development, Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Development held 2015 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards and selected benchmark companies that have fully implemented the three aspects of Environment, Governance, and Society and were capable of properly carrying out their social responsibilities for "Ten Most Sustainable Company Awards". The companies that received the awards this year are Delta Electronics, E.Sun Financial Holding Co., Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, United Microelectronics Corporation, Fubon Financial Holding Co., China Steel Corporation, AU Optronics, FarEasTone, and Cathay Financial Holdings respectively by position.


In this year’s Ten Most Sustainable Company Awards, Delta Electronics holds the first position. Delta Electronics has been devoted to research and development of green energy products for a long time and actively promoting green buildings. The company uses renewable energy and holds seminars to share the company’s sustainability experiences with other businesses and the general public. This year it represented Taiwan in holding an exhibition at United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties 21 (UNFCCC COP21) to advocate green buildings and carbon reduction to the international community.


E.Sun Financial Holding Co. issues E.Sun World Card and appropriates part of the annual credit fee or 3 parts per thousand of the amount of credit card transactions as the fund for "E.Sun Golden Seeds Project". Coupled with voluntary donations from the company’s employees, it infuses a new hope for building elementary school libraries in remote areas.


In the face of the impact of large-scale price drops in China’s steel, China Steel Corporation resorted to overall reduction of raw material costs, decrease in energy consumption, and enhancing yield rates that resulted in a reduction of 4.39 billion NT of cost in 2014. China Steel Corporation also engages in environmental protection work and dedicates to energy saving and carbon reduction that achieved a reduction of four hundred thirty thousand tons of carbon dioxide emissions. What a great achievement!
